ABOUT

In the late 1800's and early 1900's, veterans began coming together to find a place they could belong with other service members, and soon chapters were popping up all over the United States. Quickly a National level organization was formed and since then it has given voice to veterans at a much larger level. Over the last century, the VFW's voice has helped in establishing the Veterans Administration and continuing to improve veterans healthcare. Additionally, it was instrumental in the development of the national cemetery system, in the fight for compensation for vets exposed to harmful chemicals while overseas, the GI Bill, and Veterans Access and Accountability Act of 2014.
